Function

The TCPL Mentoring Steering Committee is a committee within the Office of the Provost. It's function is to complement existing departmental and divisional mentoring programs by coordinating the grassroots efforts on TCPL mentoring; to organize an annual mentoring program for TCPL faculty; to track the work of its four subcommittees (Technology, Mentoring, Group Events, and Special Tasks); to centralize and coordinate mentoring resources via its Canvas site; to organize workshops and training sessions for the mentors and mentees in the program, and to develop mentoring resources for the TCPL community at Miami.

Composition

The TCPL Mentoring Steering committee consists of ten (10) members who serve on rotating, renewable two-year terms (2), and two (2)  Ex-Officio members: the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs and the chair of the Faculty Welfare Committee. As much as possible, the composition of the steering committee should be representative of the diversity of TCPL positions, across ranks and divisions.

The chair of the steering committee serves for a renewable one-year term (1), and is appointed by the two Ex-Officio members in consultation with the current chair.

New members are selected by current committee members from the pool of applications submitted to the committee during the spring semester, as needed.

The steering committee includes four sub-committees:

  • Technology Management
  • Mentoring
  • TCPL mentoring group event organization
  • Special Tasks
