Community College Partnerships

Guaranteed admission to Miami University is where the benefits begin.

Miami partners with community colleges to provide seamless pathways for students who begin their studies at a 2-year institution and wish to complete a bachelor’s degree at Miami.

Miami currently has community college partnerships with the following institutions:

  • Cincinnati State Technical and Community College
  • Columbus State Community College
  • Cuyahoga Community College
  • Sinclair Community College
  • Stark State Community College

Qualified students who participate in the Miami University Bachelor’s Degree Partnership will receive:

  • Guaranteed admission to a Miami campus when they graduate from a partner community college with an associate degree and a 2.00 cumulative GPA, and a completed and approved Ohio Transfer Module.
  • Transfer credit evaluations.
  • Comprehensive, face-to-face academic advising from both the community college and Miami.
  • Personal assistance navigating the admission and financial aid process.
  • Access to Miami resources and special events.
  • Invitations to transfer student only workshops and presentations by Miami University staff.
  • Specialized opportunities to visit Miami’s Oxford campus.
  • $50 transfer application fee waiver.

Miami University Advantages

Once admitted to Miami University (Oxford campus), Bachelor’s Degree Partnership students can:

  • Receive priority consideration for Miami transfer scholarships.
  • Attend a transfer student orientation program.
  • Enroll in a course designed to help transfer students make the transition.

Eligibility and Application

Students interested in the Miami University Bachelor’s Degree Partnership must first apply and be accepted to one of the following 2-year institutions:

Honors Partnerships

Miami University has partnered with Honors Programs at select community colleges to provide seamless pathways for students to transition into Miami’s Honors College upon transferring.

Miami currently has Honors Partnerships with the following institutions:

  • Columbus State Community College
  • Cuyahoga Community College
  • Rhodes State Community College
  • Sinclair Community College
  • Cincinnati State Community College

In order to be guaranteed admission* into Miami’s Honors College from these institutions, students must meet the following:

  • Graduated from the institution as a member of the school’s Honors Program
  • Have at least a 3.25 cumulative collegiate GPA
  • Is in good standing at their current institution and all prior institutions in all respects
  • Indicates their interest in Miami’s Honors College on their application
  • Completes the Miami University Honors Essay
  • Demonstrates the intent to enroll at Miami University for at least an additional two years

*Will depend on available Honors College resources

Students entering Miami University’s Honors College through the Honors Partnership will be eligible for benefits that include (but are not limited to):

  • Waiver of the $50 application fee for Transfer Admission to Miami University.
  • Personal assistance navigating the Miami University admission and financial aid process.
  • Comprehensive and individualized academic advising from both Rhodes State College and Miami University.
  • Major and degree plans with specific course details that provide guided routes toward a Miami University bachelor’s degree.
  • Automatic transfer credit evaluation.
  • Specialized opportunities to visit Miami University - Oxford Campus.

Students in the Honors Partnership may transfer up to four honors courses, which would count as four of the eight required Honors experiences needed to earn the Miami University Honors College designation. In order for an institution’s course to be considered for Miami Honors credit, it must be a designated honors course and must be accepted as credit by Miami University’s Office of the University Registrar. An Honors Partnership student’s academic credentials will be verified by the Miami University Office of International, Transfer and Strategic Enrollment Programs at the time of application review.

In order to receive the “University Honors” notation on their Miami University transcript, Honors students must complete eight (8) Honors Experiences, including two Honors courses, and achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher of earned Miami University credits.
