Leah Janssen, Ph.D., joined the Scripps team on July 12 as the Assistant Director for Academic Programs and Research Support. Dr. Janssen will provide leadership and support to graduate programs in gerontology, be a member of research teams, and will be part of the Scripps infrastructure for development and submission of grants. Dr. Janssen brings to the position several years of experience in gerontological research, a deep commitment to gerontology education, knowledge about and strong connections to Miami's graduate programs in gerontology, and leadership experience in a number of organizations that serve older adults. 

Dr. Janssen is a graduate of Miami University and recently completed her doctoral studies with a Ph.D. in Social Gerontology. As an animal lover, one of her favorite Miami memories was naming and feeding the squirrels on campus during her undergraduate studies. In her spare time, she enjoys cycling, watching The Office and Parks and Rec, and getting together with the Cincinnati Vinyl Club where they gather monthly to play records and discuss all things music.
