Executive Director Suzanne Kunkel, Ph.D. and O'Toole Family Professor and Scripps Research Fellow Kate de Medeiros, Ph.D. awarded first place in the American Journal of Nursing 2020 Book of the Year Award. Their book titled “Global Aging: Comparative Perspectives on Aging and the Life Course, 2nd Edition” won first place in the Gerontologic Nursing category.

Professor of Economics and Scripps Research Fellow, Dr. John Bowblis wasted no time in 2020. In addition to 16 peer-reviewed papers accepted for publication and one research brief, Bowblis has an active role in five newly-funded grants.

2020 W. Fred Cottrell Distinguished Alumni Award
The Scripps Gerontology Center is pleased to announce that Dr. Takashi Yamashita is the recipient of the 2020 W. Fred Cottrell Distinguished Alumni award. This award recognizes Miami University gerontology graduate student alumni for outstanding leadership in the field of aging.

New majors, a new department, approved by Miami trustees
Miami University trustees at their May 17 meeting approved the establishment of two bachelor of arts degrees — one with a major in data analytics and one with a major in organizational leadership — both in the College of Arts and Science.
