The Department of Anthropology offers a range of academic opportunities.

By itself, the anthropology major offers students an opportunity to study one of the most fundamental questions: “What does it mean to be human” from an array of perspectives that span the biological sciences, social and behavioral sciences, and the humanities. With its holistic approach, and emphasis on research skills, anthropology can provide a solid basis for professional careers, careers in business, or graduate education.

According to a recent USA Today story, Anthropology is one of the best second majors or co-majors for a global world. Anthropology’s flexible curriculum makes it easy to pair it with other majors and co-majors, from business to journalism to sustainability to zoology.

The Anthropology Department offers two Thematic Sequences to fulfill your Global Miami Plan requirements; additionally, we offer three minors that can replace the Thematic Sequence requirement in the Global Miami Plan.
