Department awarded $5,000 Howe Writing Center Grant

In May 2014, the Department of Comparative Religion was awarded a Howe Writing Center departmental grant to standarize its writing curriculum across all sections of its REL 101 course entitled, "Introduction to the Study of Religion."

The grant will allow the faculty to align their writing assignments and student development outcomes with the Miami 20/20 Plan and the Association of American Colleges and University's LEAP outcomes.  The course, taught with topics such as, "Religious Extremism," "American Empire," "Religion and Film," and "9/11: Bush, Bin Ladin and Religion," is among the departments more popular offerings.

Dr. Nathan French and Dr. Liz Wilson are spearheading the curriculum alignment efforts.
