Two grants awarded to Dr. Zanjani for research projects
With grants from both the American Chemical Society (ACS) Petroleum Research Fund and the National Science Foundation (NSF), Dr. Zanjani's research is on a path to success.

Dr. Koo and his collaborators developed prototype actuators for large TSDs based on electrostatic forces.
Two professors receive 2020 Outstanding Faculty Research Award
Dr. Jason Berberich, Associate Professor in the CPB department, and Dr. Andrew Sommers, Associate Professor in the MME department, are the joint recipients of the award. The two have established collaborations with researchers both within and outside of Miami University.
MME students compete in Solar Decathlon
Each year, the U.S. Department of Energy holds a Solar Decathlon, challenging college students to design and create energy-efficient buildings powered by renewable energy. Through this, students gain unique training for the workforce and are simultaneously educated in multiple aspects of energy efficiency.
Dr. Zhijiang (Justin) Ye and team publish research paper
This work illustrates a fundamental understanding of how mechanical stress affects the self-healing properties of polymers, and the potential for dynamic chemistry to be activated by mechanical forces.
MME department crafts hands-free door openers
The process is fairly simple and starts with using high pressure to cut the copper on a water jet. Then, the cutouts are transferred to the milling machine to make the final cuts on the edges and make the metal smooth.
Dr. Yingbin Hu is granted patent
The patent, titled Nano/micro scale porous structured alloys using selective alloying process based on elemental powders, took approximately four years to complete. He began the process while he was earning his master’s degree at The University of Texas System.
MME student attends ASME Collegiate Council
Brown, a junior mechanical engineering major, was one of only 22 students accepted into the Petroleum Division of the council. These are both undergraduate as well as graduate students who have expressed interest in the oil and gas industry as a potential career path.
