Virtual Town Hall Meetings, 4:03 p.m.

Greetings Miami Committee,

We wanted to update you on what we have been working on.

The week of July 14, we will have a series of virtual town hall meetings from 4 - 5 p.m. EST, in successive days (see schedule and registration below). Please plan to attend any of the meetings for the charge that you have an interest in helping with. The general plan for each meeting is to update the community on recommendations within each charge, address questions submitted for the session, and allow a few comments during the session. The idea is to accept suggestions and recommendations from the community for how each pillar group can advance DEI in their sector of the charge. Questions for a given pillar can be submitted after registering for a given town hall.

We continue to accept general feedback for the task force via our website. Up to this point, we have analyzed each submission and shared them with respective subcommittee leaders so that we can distill ideas to be considered for recommendation to President Crawford. Please continue to share your thoughts with us. We also want to acknowledge that we are aware of the frustrations expressed by students and community members present on our website and elsewhere. We see you. We hear you and we know we must do better.

Finally, we want to own the mistakes we have made. In our initial construction of the task force, our haste led to inadvertently underrepresenting our colleagues at the regional campuses on the task force. We sincerely apologize for the blunder. We have corrected this by adding faculty, staff, and students. Please see our updated membership here. As leaders, we must not only celebrate our successes, but also own up to our mistakes, work to correct them, and continue the work. We thank those that brought this mistake to our attention and we ask that you continue to hold us accountable and join us in this difficult work.
