Miami’s Sport Leadership and Management Department offers three majors and three minors. Our programs are highly regarded by employers, professional schools, and other academic institutions and our graduates go on to rewarding careers.
Our graduates leave prepared to succeed in leadership positions in the sport industry (recreational to professional, youth to adult) with knowledge and skills to critically analyze and innovatively engage in the business and culture of sport.

Why Choose Sport Leadership and Management?
OUTSTANDING FACULTY. SLAM faculty are committed to teaching and advising excellence. Students are taught and advised by full time dedicated faculty who are nationally and internationally known scholars and professionals. Faculty have a student-centered approach that values building relationships and mentoring.
INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCES. SLAM students are encouraged to seek out multiple internship experiences before they graduate. The SLAM Director of Internships and Center for Career Exploration and Success help students find internships and secure positions. GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE OF SPORT. Miami University is a leader in providing students with global study abroad experiences. SLAM offers several sport specific study abroad programs, as well as a semester of study on the Luxembourg Campus. Our curriculum provides a global perspective of sport to encourage SLAM students to be culturally competent global citizens.
PARTNERSHIPS ACROSS CAMPUS. SLAM students are required to complete a core of business courses from the Farmer School of Business. We are offering new programs and experience working in Esports Management and Sport Analytics. SLAM students work with Miami Athletics in every aspect of sport operations, including communications and media, event management, coaching, and marketing.
INVOLVED ALUMNI IN SPORT. Miami University has an impressive and loyal list of alumni working in every aspect of the sport industry. Alumni interact with SLAM students as mentors, guest speakers, teachers, and advocates on and off campus.
BROAD CAREER OPTIONS. 96% of graduates of the SLAM program are employed or pursuing a graduate degree within one year after graduation. They start careers in professional, collegiate, or recreational sport depending on their interests. Some graduates will be employed in general business types of careers in sales, marketing, supply chain, or management fields. A degree from Miami University has a well-respected reputation that is attractive to employers in many fields.
