Primary Education (grades PK-5)

Learn to be a teacher who can deliver high-quality developmentally appropriate instruction to help children to meet life-long academic and social success.

Middle Childhood Education (grades 4-9)

As a Middle Childhood Education major, you will specialize in two of four areas-language arts, mathematics, science, or social studies, and will be licensed to teach reading within your grade band.

Integrated English Language Arts (grades 7-12)

Enjoy the benefits of a cohort-based approach to teaching methods and pedagogy, along with courses on how to teach English and Language Arts intertwined with experiences in 7-12 classrooms.

Integrated Mathematics (grades 7–12)

A cohort-based approach to teaching methods and pedagogy, along with intense preparation in mathematics content. We also provide courses that teach you how to teach students with special needs.

Integrated Social Studies (grades 7–12)

A cohort-based approach to teaching methods and pedagogy, along with courses on how to teach social studies intertwined with experiences in K-12 classrooms. We also provide courses that teach you how to teach students with special needs.

Foreign Language Education (grades K-12)

We offer foreign language learning opportunities for teacher candidates who wish to study and teach Chinese, French, German, Latin, and Spanish with licensure for grades K-12.

Combined Bachelor's and Master's Degrees

Get two degress in 5 years. Qualified students can simultaneously pursue a bachelor's and a master's degree in one of the EHS programs that offer 3 + 2 or 4 + 1 plans. Learn more about the combined programs offered on the following departmental program pages:

Education, Teaching, and Learning Minor

Most people will have contact with the educational system in their communities during their lifetimes. Many will have careers that at least part of the time involve training employees. Some envision careers that involve helping people learn new tasks and ideas. Some see themselves running for political office. This minor can provide a basic understanding of ideas in the world of education.

Additional Education Majors

The College of Education, Health and Society also offers a program in Inclusive Special Education in the Department of Educational Psychology.

Miami University offers Music Education and Art Education programs at the College of Creative Arts.
