Graduate Reading Endorsement Certificate

A Graduate Reading Endorsement Certificate can be added to a valid Ohio teaching license upon (a) successful completion of required graduate level reading education courses (EDT 603,642,646,632,635), and (b) passing the OAE Reading subtest l-038 & OAE Reading subtest ll-039 (see www.oh.nesinc.com for registering, preparation, etc.). Such an endorsement enables a teacher to teach reading in grades K-12 in the state of Ohio. Upon passing the tests you need to complete the application to add the Reading Endorsement as a second teaching field. Apply at the Ohio Department of Education website. Upon successful completion of the Reading Endorsement requirements, students will also receive a graduate level Reading Endorsement Certificate from Miami University.

Note: If you are taking your Reading Endorsement classes as continuing non-degree graduate status (CGS), but plan on entering a Graduate program at a later date please keep in mind that you are only allowed to take 12 graduate hours before entering into a master’s program. You will only receive credit for the first 12 hours of graduate work.
