Ph.D. Application Checklist

SAHE welcomes applications for our Ph.D. program from all interested individuals for both part-time and full-time doctoral study. Admissions to our Ph.D. program is offered every OTHER year. Preference will be given to applicants with three or more years of full-time professional experience. Applications must have a masters degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related area. Note: SAHE no longer requires GRE scores for application to our Ph.D. program. The following is a step-by-step guide to applying for admission to the SAHE Ph.D. program. The next doctoral application cycle will be for fall 2021 enrollment.

Step 1: Complete your Online Application

Create an online application as a part of this application the Graduate School requires the following materials:

  • Unofficial Undergraduate Transcript(s) (send transcripts to Graduate School)
  • Unofficial Graduate Transcript(s) (send transcripts to Graduate School
  • $50 online application fee

Additionally, in your online application the SAHE program requires the following materials:
These materials should also be submitted through the graduate school online application.

  • Professional Practice Statement in which you (1) articulate the philosophical and/or theoretical foundations upon which you base your practice and (2) describe your research interests and how they connect to your professionals goals
  • Curriculum Vitae or Resume
  • Contact Information for four Letters of Recommendation (sent electronically via CollegeNet through the online application; 2 academic letters and 2 professional letters)

Please note that recommenders cannot submit their recommendation letters until you have submitted all of your materials through the graduate school application. We advise that you notify recommenders of this timeline in advance so they can prepare your letters and upload them quickly after you have submitted your application. This will help ensure you get all materials - including letters of recommendation - submitted by the December 1st deadline.

Step 2: Complete Associateship Rank Order Form

Between December 1-9, 2018, all Ph.D. applicants with completed applications will receive an email (to the email address listed in your online application) with a link to the online SAHE Associateship Rank Order Form. Sending the form at this time ensures that it reflects all available associateships, as associateships are confirmed on a rolling basis.
