Dr. Larysa Bobrova, Coordinator

Larysa Bobrova


As a coordinator of the ELL WC, Larysa Bobrova’s goal is to support multilingual student writers and faculty. She received her Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University specializing in cognitive semantics and second language acquisition. Her teaching and scholarly interests lie in second language writing pedagogy and teacher education. She enjoys sharing innovative teaching strategies with faculty for teaching multilingual students. In her teaching, she aims to bring together rigorous theoretical enquiry with language pedagogy attempting to enhance learning process by making it both productive and enjoyable.

Writing Consultants

Our consultants are Miami undergraduate students from diverse majors and with a variety of interests.

Alix C. is a freshman International Studies major with an interest in diplomacy. She is trilingual in Spanish, English, and Korean, and lived in South Korea for nine months in 2018-19. She enjoys creative writing, making YouTube videos, and playing Stardew Valley in her free time.

Claire D. is majoring in Accounting and having Chinese as her minor. She loves to learn about cultures and meet people from different countries. She also likes to watch Netflix during free time and Stranger Things is her favorite series.

Cosette Z. is second year Speech Pathology major with a minor in Spanish. She grew up speaking Spanish at home and plans to use her bilingual abilities as a Speech Pathologist in a school setting. In her free time, she enjoys watching TV shows, traveling, and playing outside with her pets.

Delaney S. is a Professional Writing major with a Criminology minor. She is involved in Sigma Tau Delta and Alpha Epsilon Phi on campus, and she loves a bad horror movie.

Emma L. is double majoring in Economics and Spanish. On campus, she is involved in the Honors Student Advisory Board and Claws with a Cause, among other things. In her free time, she likes reading, spending time with friends, and watching TV shows.

Julia M. is majoring in Speech Pathology with a Neuroscience minor. She is bilingual in Polish and English and can speak Italian and French at an intermediate level. In addition to providing consulting services, she can aid in accent modification. She enjoys playing sudoku, listening to music, and hanging out with her friends.

Lindsay D.is majoring in Anthropology and Spanish and minoring in Global Health. She is fluent in Spanish and loves learning new languages. In her free, time she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, listening to worship music, and being with her friends.

Morgan E. is majoring in East Asian Languages and Culture. She has a passion for the arts, especially costume design/construction, and all things theatrical. She frequently performs entire Broadway musicals by herself in her free time.

Rachel P. is a triple-major in Spanish, International Studies, and Diplomacy and Global Politics with a minor in Latin American Studies. She enjoys any outdoor activity and hanging out with friends or watching Netflix in her free time.

Sarah P-B. is a sophomore majoring in Strategic Communication and Linguistics. On campus, she is involved in Alpha Phi Omega, PRSSA, and Pep Band, and after graduating, she wants to be a librarian. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends and listening to Christmas music year round.

Shae C.W. is majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology. When not doing schoolwork, she enjoys figure skating on Miami’s club synchronized skating team and rewatching The Office and Parks and Rec.

Sydni M. is majoring in Marketing with a minor in Spanish. She enjoys hammocking, playing the ukulele, and is addicted to iced coffee.

Yola R. is a linguistics major at Miami. She enjoys playing with her dogs, watching musicals, and riding her bike.
