Prerequisites

The Mock Interview Program requires you to:

Daily Mock Interviews

What Are Daily Mock Interviews?

Daily Mock Interviews are peer-based behavioral interviews conducted by trained student assistants (as opposed to Mock Interview Special Events below, which are directed by Miami employer partners and recruiters).

NOTE: The last day for Daily Mock Interviews will be Friday, May 8. Students must complete a Basic Interviewing Workshop to sign up for a Mock Interview. The last Daily Mock Interview begins one hour before the latest time listed.

All Daily Mock Interviews will be facilitated using Google Meet.

  • Students will continue to register for Daily Mock Interviews via Handshake. A Mock Interview option will appear in your APPOINTMENTS once Basic Interviewing has been completed.
  • Students will receive an invitation for a Google Meets or WebEx Mock Interview in their Miami University email account.
  • At the time of the interview select Join the Meeting. Make sure the camera and audio on your device is working for the interview. If video is not accessible for the interview inform the Career Center and we will make adjustments with the method of delivery.

No-Show/Late Cancellation Policy for Mock Interviews

A missed mock interview due to a no-show or a late cancellation reflects poorly on you and all students at Miami University. Additionally, it wastes a valuable interview slot for the staff member and for other students seeking an opportunity to practice their interviewing skills.

The following penalties will be imposed if you cancel a mock interview late or do not show.

Late cancellations during an academic year:
  • 1st offense: No penalty is assessed, but your Handshake account is noted.
  • 2nd offense: Your account is blocked from participating in the interviewing process until an email letter of apology to the employer or interviewer is reviewed by the Mock Interview Supervisor, Tekeia Howard, mockinterview@miamioh.edu. Once approved, the apology must be emailed to the employer or interviewer (cc to mockinterview@miamioh.edu). This must be completed within 30 days or your account is disabled for the duration of the academic year.
  • 3rd offense: Your account is permanently disabled, and you will not have access to any Handshake features for the duration of the academic year. A meeting with the Assistant Vice President of CCES, or a designee, is required.
No-shows during an academic year:
  • 1st offense: Your account is blocked from participating in the interviewing process until a formal letter of apology to the employer or interviewer is reviewed by the Mock Interview Supervisor, Tekeia Howard, mockinterview@miamioh.edu. Once approved, the apology must be emailed to the employer or interviewer (cc to mockinterview@miamioh.edu). This must be completed within 30 days or your account is disabled for the duration of the academic year.
  • 2nd offense: Your account is permanently disabled, and you will not have access to any Handshake features for the duration of the academic year. A meeting with the Assistant Vice President of CCES, or a designee, is required.
