International students may encounter challenges when starting the job search process. Some of these challenges include, finding company sponsorship, possessing desired skills for the industry, and lack of a strong network. While many of these factors are difficult to overcome, there are several resources to help students with their career search. Take advantage of the 4 P's that lead to your success as a professional!

- Practice verbal skills, speaking English in both formal and informal settings.
- Sign-up for mock interviews.
- Conduct information interviews with family, friends, and Miami Alumni.
- Participate in career webinars and workshops.

Prepare: Build Your Skills
- Consider a double major (to increase marketability).
- Learn specialized skills to add to your resume.
- Engage on LinkedIn University to connect with international alumni by searching geographic location, major studied and current employer.
- Start a blog to capture unique experiences (continuation from ENG 109).

Personal: Build Your Network
- Join campus and professional organizations.
- Stay connected to recruiters and alumni you meet.
- Network with international alumni.
- Research a diverse range of companies both in your home country and globally (My Visa Jobs, Going Global, & Indeed).
- Connect with the International Student & Scholar Services Advisors.

Participate: Build Your Career
- Search Handshake for internship/employment opportunities.
- Attend Career Fair every year.
- Participate in FSB Immersion, and International Programs.
- Secure an internship and/or full-time position.
