Advising Appointments

Due to the health and safety issues related to COVID-19, Miami University staff will continue to meet remotely with students for Spring 2021 via phone, Zoom or Google Meet.

When scheduling your appointment, please use the "Additional Details" box to indicate if you would prefer to talk by phone (provide phone number) or through Zoom/Google Meet. Additional instructions are below. All appointments are scheduled in Eastern Daylight Time (Ohio time).

To Schedule an Advising Appointment

  1. Log in to Navigate. The Student Home screen should automatically open.
  2. Click Get Assistance.
  3. For your appointment type, select Academic & Advising Support.
  4. Under Service, select International Student & Scholar Services Appointment and then select your reason for scheduling an appointment.
  5. Under Pick a Date, select the date that works best for you and then choose Find Available Time.
    1. If you would like or need to schedule an appointment with a specific advisor, you may filter to their availability.
  6. Select the time that is convenient for your schedule. Be mindful of time zone differences.
  7. Enter comments regarding your preferred meeting mode from the list below and then choose Schedule to finalize your appointment.
    • Phone: ISSS will call you at your scheduled appointment time using the phone number you provide. Please note that ISSS cannot make international calls. If you are outside the U.S., you will need to call +1-513-529-8600 at the time of your scheduled appointment.
    • Google Meet
      • The ISSS advisor will set up and send a meeting invitation to your Miami email shortly before your meeting. Open it and select "Accept."
      • At the time of your video call, please log in to the meeting room and the advisor will join you.
      • You will need to "Allow" Google Meet to access your microphone and camera.
    • Zoom
      • The ISSS advisor will set up and send a meeting invitation to your email shortly before your meeting. Open it and select "Accept."
      • At the time of your video call, please log in to the meeting room using the "Join Zoom Meeting" link in the invitation and the advisor will join you.
      • You will need to "Allow" Zoom to access your microphone and camera.

To Cancel an Advising Appointment

  1. Log in to Navigate. The Student Home screen should automatically open.
  2. Review your Upcoming Appointments on the right side of the page.
  3. Choose the appointment you wish to cancel.
  4. Select Cancel My Attendance.
  5. Select Reason for cancellation.
  6. Select Mark as Cancelled.
  7. You and your advisor will receive an email notification with the cancellation.
