On May 4, the Consulate General in New York hosted the 18th Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency Competition for College Students—East USA Preliminary and the 12th Chinese Bridge- Chinese Proficiency Competition for High School Students—East USA Preliminary.

Jaden Loo (Miami University), Zachary Zellner (Turpin High School) and Adelaide Justice Mykel (Columbus School for Girls) participated in the competitions, under the leadership of Chen Zhao, Director of the Confucius Institute at Miami University (CIMU).

After exciting competitions, Zachary Zellner and Adelaide Justice Mykel won the first and second prizes respectively in the high school student category. Zachary Zellner attended the Chinese Bridge summer camp in 2017, which is sponsored by CIMU. This summer camp provides students with a first-hand experience of Chinese culture.

Adelaide Justice Mykel recited a poem she wrote in Chinese which earned an outstanding Art Performance Award.

As the first place winner, Zachary Zellner will have the chance to participate in the final competition in China.
