Over Age 26 Dependent

Children can be covered under your Miami health, dental, and vision, and life insurance plans until the end of the month in which they turn 26.

What Happens When My Child Turns 26?

  1. You will be notified by the Benefits office the month before the child's 26th birthday.
  2. The child will receive information from Chard, Snyder and Associates regarding continuing their coverage through COBRA. If the child does not live with you, please complete the Address Change for Dropped Dependent form with their current address.
  3. The Benefits office will update your coverage level and premiums if affected by the termination of the child's coverage. You will receive new health insurance ID cards, if your coverage does change.
  4. The child will no longer be eligible for voluntary life insurance or coverage under family voluntary accidental death insurance.
