Developing tools for success: Miami and motherhood

by Elizabeth Jenike, IT Services

IT Services wouldn’t have very many services if it weren’t for the efforts of our development teams. Our application developers provide quality work for the good of Miami’s computing environment, fulfilling requests for clients across the University.

Taskina Fayezeen is one of those hard workers. Taskina joined the While (Sprint) doWork{} team in August 2017 as an application developer I. Most of her day is spent working within different coding languages and on various projects that her team has been tasked to complete.

“I work in different stages of the software development process, from design, and development to test, deployment, and maintenance,” she said.

Most recently, she has been working hard on the Duo Security validator app that will be released at the beginning of the enrollment period for the upcoming mandatory two-factor authentication. She is also working on developing an application that will help to bypass CAS multi-factor authentication for Canvas. She works within the PHP Laravel framework to develop various web tools for Miami users and mentors new team members as they join.

Her educational background reveals that she is an expert in computer science, as she received her bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the Military Institute of Science and Technology in Bangladesh, and her master’s degree in computing from Marquette University.

She’s also in the SolDel coding club, where she shares experience and education with new members. Something else fun is that she likes reciting Bengali poetry, includingpoems like Hothat Dehka by Rabindranath Tagore, Tomake Pawar Jonne He Swadhinota by Shamsur Rahman, Banalata Sen by Jibanananda Das, and Emon Dine Tare Bola Jay by Rabindranath Tagore.

Happy Birthday, Areeba!

What’s more, Taskina and her husband recently welcomed a new member of the IT Services crowd into the world! Little Areeba Afrin was born on April 15, 2018, to the happy parents.

“Recently most of my activities revolve around my newborn girl Areeba,” she said. “Love to enjoy every moment with her.”

When Taskina returned to work after having Areeba, her team was so elated that they threw her a baby shower and invited all of Solution Delivery. The guest of honor came to enjoy the presents and games, as well!

The team played a hot potato-esque game where they passed an egg around while someone tapped a drum methodically. When the drum stopped (at the player’s discretion), whoever had the egg would give a piece of advice to the new mom and dad (if the egg-holder was a parent) or would ask a question of the parents in the room (if they didn’t have children). It was a fun game and led to a lot of funny anecdotes and good advice for Taskina and her husband.

And thanks for all your hard work and dedication, Taskina. We enjoy having you in our IT Services family.
