Miami recognizes October as National Cyber Security Month

Once again Miami is taking part in recognizing the importance of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) with a variety of events on the Oxford, Hamilton, and Middletown campuses. An information booth will be available at various locations on each campus throughout the month of October. Stop by to learn about how you can better protect yourself, your information, and your devices, as well as meet Miami’s information security staff and spin the prize wheel.

This will also be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Duo Security, Miami’s new two-factor authentication tool that you can register for now, but will be required for login to most online services beginning December 19.

Information and cyber security continue to grow as significant issues for higher education, and for individuals everywhere. Because of this, October has been deemed National Cyber Security Awareness Month. It was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure every American has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online. 2018 marks the 15th year of National Cyber Security Awareness Month.
