Making the rounds: New bus wrap highlights Miami’s national brand campaign

Miami University students may notice a new sight making the rounds on the Oxford campus this spring semester.

A new art wrap with the tagline “Going places? Together, we will.” made its debut this month on a Butler County Regional Transit Authority (BCRTA) bus. The phrase is part of Miami’s Power of Will national brand campaign, which is designed to empower and support by telling a story of confidence, optimism, and resolve.

Shawn Cowan, director of customer care and public engagement for BCRTA, said the rest of the fleet of 11 buses will also be rebranded with a target date of completion by May 1.

“Everything has a Miami focus,” Cowan said. “We want it to be recognizable as Oxford and Miami University, but not so much so that if it was running elsewhere, someone would think they couldn’t get on that bus.”

BCRTA’s Oxford buses rotate routes throughout the course of the year. Cowan said the vehicle with the new wrap will predominantly serve the Oxford campus but could potentially be used as part of the Hamilton-Oxford route.

The rebranded bus isn’t the only recent BCRTA activity in Oxford this January. A groundbreaking for BCRTA’s Chestnut Street Station was held on Jan. 19.

A multimodal transportation station located at 97 W. Chestnut St., the facility will provide a one-stop transfer location for BCRTA services in Oxford to support the region.

The project is expected to be finished in late 2025.

Cowan expressed enthusiasm for the numerous positive outcomes that could result from this development. “The journey has been a lengthy one for BCRTA, and there is a palpable excitement among everyone involved,” Cowan said.
