Final Exams

The Office of the University Registrar develops the final exam schedule for the fall and spring semesters at the Hamilton, Middletown, and Oxford campuses, as well as VOALC. The schedule and policies are posted on the One Stop website approximately three weeks before the semester starts. Students can access final exam dates/times by viewing their detailed course schedule in BannerWeb. Exam information is typically posted in late October for fall semester exams and late February for spring semester exams. Except for group exams, final exams are held in the room where the class regularly meets.

The schedule and policies for Oxford group exams are posted on the One Stop website approximately three weeks before the semester starts. Room assignments for group examinations are added to student course schedules in BannerWeb approximately one month before final examination week. Note that final exams will be determined by the faculty teaching any MUDEC classes and graduate level VOALC classes.

Final Examination Conflicts

A Conflict occurs when a student has two or more final examinations scheduled at the same time. For instances of conflicts, adjustments are made according to this schedule, regardless of campus:

  • For fall semester, the course section whose subject three-letter abbreviation is nearest the beginning of the alphabet is adjusted.

  • For spring semester, the course section whose subject three-letter abbreviation is nearest the end of the alphabet is adjusted.

  • If both courses are within the same department, the higher course number is adjusted.

If the conflict is a result of one course instructor changing their final examination day/time, the instructor who changed their day/time must work out conflicts their students encounter.
