Ohio Guaranteed Transfer Pathways
As a member of the University System of Ohio, Miami University offers students the ability to streamline credit transfer from the state's public institutions of higher education and from adult/secondary career-technical institutions to find the best pathways to degree completion and launch successful careers.
Your college credit may apply to a degree in multiple ways:
Guaranteed Transfer-to-Degree Pathways provide a clear path to associate degree completion and then to bachelor’s degree completion in a related major. By following an OGTP, you can ensure that you are taking coursework that will not only transfer but apply to your desired degree.
Transfer Assurance Guides (TAGs) offer guaranteed transfer credit for specific pre-major and beginning major coursework. TAG courses allow you to complete and transfer courses to fulfill requirements for your intended degree program.
Ohio Transfer 36 (OT36) consists of general education course requirements guaranteed to transfer among all Ohio public institutions of higher education. Students who intend to transfer should select their general education courses from the state approved OT36 courses at their current institution. OT36 courses may also be TAG courses.
Military Transfer Assurance Guides (MTAGs) provide a statewide guarantee that certain types of military training, experience, and/or coursework align to existing college and university courses and will be awarded appropriate credit. MTAGs work best for students who have either a Joint Services Transcript or a Community College of the Air Force transcript.
Career Technical Assurance Guides (CTAGs) award college credit for career-technical coursework taken in high school or at a career-technical institution. You are eligible to earn college credit at an Ohio public college or university if you have completed approved career-technical courses in high school or at an Ohio Technical Center. CTAGs help these students enter college with articulated college level credit. Time limits and conditions for awarding CTAG credit vary by technical area.
Industry-Recognized Credential Transfer Assurance Guides (ITAGs) guarantee the awarding of college credit for anyone who holds one or more approved industry-recognized credentials, regardless of how and where the credentials were earned. If you are looking to earn a college degree that builds upon your prior learning or work experience, ITAGs are the perfect opportunity to earn credit for demonstrated skills.
One Year Option permits students who have completed approved technical programs and who hold one or more Chancellor-approved, industry-recognized credential to transfer up to 30 hours of technical credit to a public Ohio college or university. You may apply this credit toward the 30-credit technical requirement for an Associate of Technical Study (ATS) degree and may be able to complete the ATS degree in as few as two semesters of full-time non-technical coursework at a public Ohio college or university.
