Online

Format:

Courses are delivered fully online, with no scheduled days or times.

Instruction:

Students access the course via Canvas, and participate in activities and assignments that allow them to meet the course learning objectives by interacting online with the faculty member, their classmates and the course content.

Safety:

Because students are participating remotely they should monitor themselves and their family members for Covid-19 symptoms for their own health and safety.

How can I tell if a course is online?

An online course will be noted as online in the "delivery" column of the course list.

Hybrid

Format:

Students attend either in-person or via web conferencing technologies at the regularly scheduled days/times while also completing a percentage of the course activities online via the Canvas course.

Instruction:

Faculty lead the in-person class meetings as they normally would either in classrooms configured to allow for six-feet social distancing or in regularly scheduled web conferencing meetings.

Safety:

Faculty lead the in-person class meetings as they normally would either in classrooms configured to allow for six-feet social distancing or in regularly scheduled web conferencing meetings.

How can I tell if a course is hybrid?

A hybrid course will be noted as a hybrid in the "delivery" column of the course list. A hybrid course that has no in-person meetings but only meets remotely via web conferencing technology will be described as such in the "additional notes" section of the course list. Days and times for meetings will be listed.

IVDL (Interactive Video Distance Learning)

Format:

Courses are delivered remotely via web conferencing technologies at the regularly scheduled days/times.

Instruction:

Faculty lead the meetings as they normally would via web conferencing technologies, and students participate from their homes or from another site where they have access to a computer and the internet.

Safety:

Because students are participating remotely, they should monitor themselves and their family members for Covid-19 symptoms for their own health and safety.

How can I tell if my course is IVDL?

The course will be described as Interactive Video Distance Learning in the "delivery" column of the course list. Days and times for meetings will be listed.

Face-to-Face Instruction/No Code

Format:

Students attend in-person classes at regularly scheduled days and times.

Instruction:

Faculty lead lectures, labs, studios and discussion classes as they normally would in classrooms configured to allow for six-feet social distancing. Some face-to-face classes will have a remote attendance option for students who get sick and/or need to quarantine for long periods of time during the semester. Remote attendance will be available via web conferencing technology.

Safety:

In-class activities may be modified to maintain social distances. Students, faculty and staff are required to wear masks, practice recommended hygiene practices and monitor themselves for symptoms of Covid-19. Physical spaces will be cleaned regularly per Miami University’s Covid-19 cleaning protocols.

How can I tell if my course is face-to-face?

A face to face course has no code; it will not be labeled in the course list as online, hybrid or interactive video distance learning. The course will have a room assignment and specific meeting days and times.
