Miami University Student Health Services (SHS) provides acute care to all Oxford, Hamilton, and Middletown campus students.
Located at 421 S. Campus Ave., the Health Services Center is staffed by physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and medical assistants offering primary care, gynecology, urgent care, and immunization services. SHS also provides laboratory, x-ray, and pharmacy services for students seen at the Health Services Center.
When calling 513-529-3000 between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., students are guaranteed a same-day appointment; however, walk-in visits are seen on a first-come, first-served basis. If no clinician is available, an appointment may be scheduled for the following day. All services provided by SHS (except for anonymous HIV testing) are billed to the student's health insurance company. Any co-pay required may be made with Visa or MasterCard or charged to the student's bursar bill.
Special medical transportation to the Health Services Center is also provided for ill or injured students by calling 529-2277. The Student Counseling Service is a campus mental health resource that offers a variety of services, including individual and group counseling, psychoeducation workshops, and psychiatric treatment. The Psychology Clinic, operating in conjunction with the Department of Psychology's clinical graduate program, also offers services for a nominal fee.
The City of Oxford's Community Counseling & Crisis Center provides 24-hour hotlines for assistance during non-business hours (523-4146, 894-7002, 424-5498).
Miami provides a variety of programs aimed at increasing awareness of sexual assault and supporting students who report sexual assaults. Resources include tips for individual risk reduction and prevention strategies and information on campus judicial procedures.
