The 24th Celebrating Global Sisterhood event was held on the Oxford Campus on March 6. Known until 2013 as the Women of Color Celebration, the event brings together members of the Miami and Oxford communities to celebrate diversity and the accomplishments of women across the globe.

Coordinated since 2001 by the Women*s Center, a unit within the Office of Diversity Affairs, the event began with a spoken word performance by retired teacher Patricia Ellis; it was followed by student speakers, a keynote, and awards presentation. Seniors Sara Al-Zubi (Jordan/Cincinnati), Aleah Holley (Columbus), and Azieb Zeray (Eritrea/Cincinnati) spoke of their experiences as Miami students.

Keynote speaker Darsheel Kaur (Dayton) discussed the intersections of self-care, healing, and activism in a talk titled "Collective Healing for Liberation: We Are the Ones We've Been Waiting For." The 2019 Jennie Elder Suel Distinguished Woman of Color Award was presented to Dr. Gwendolyn Etter-Lewis, Professor of English and Global & Intercultural Studies and Founder/Director of Dream Keepers, a program that pairs Miami students with area high schoolers for mentoring and college preparation.
