Student Activities Funding Sources

Associated Student Government Funding is the primary form of funding for student organizations, and groups can apply for ASG funding each month. For full information, visit the ASG funding site.

Student organizations may also apply for funding from the Diversity Initiative Grant through the Office of Student Activities.

Diversity Initiative Grant

Student organizations seeking funds from the Diversity Initiative Grant must offer programs that bring an increased awareness of diversity issues to the Miami University community, embrace individuals of diverse backgrounds (including but not limited to gender, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, religion, race, ethnicity, nationality, etc.), and raise awareness to students about the issues. Programs receiving Diversity Initiate Grant money must be open to all Miami students. Other guidelines established to receive Diversity Initiative Grant funding include:

  • Student Organizations must be in good financial standing and have proven financial stability
  • The Office of Student Activities must be recognized as co-sponsors on promotional materials
  • Following the event, a program assessment must be submitted to Student Activities
  • Only half of the total grant money may be spent on food, which must be educational

*Funding amounts from the Diversity Initiative Grant have ranged from $100 to $1500 with an average amount of $700. Funding requests over $1500 will require a presentation from the student organization to the Office of Student Activities staff.
