Adding a Slideshow

Cascade has several ways of displaying pictures (and in some cases video and text) as a slideshow, depending on the widget or page that you are using.

Featured Slideshow on Department Homepage

The Featured Slideshow will automatically advance the images on your homepage slideshow. The slideshow appears "behind" the department name at the top of the department homepage.

  1. Click on Featured Slideshows >> Slideshow to expand the window.
  2. Click [Search] to upload the image.
  3. Add alternate text.
  4. Click the [+] button to add another slide image.

Banner Image Bank Widget

A Banner Image Bank widget allows you to display images in a slideshow format. View the detailed instructions for creating a Banner Image Bank.

SPIF Bank Widget

A SPIF Bank widget allows you to display images, text, or video in a click-thru slideshow format. View the detailed instructions for creating a SPIF Item and SPIF Bank.

Flickr Slideshow

Get Embed Code from Flickr
  1. Open browser.
  2. Login to Flickr account (flickr.com).
  3. Browse to a SET in Flickr. The URL will then reflect something like this example below:
  4. Type /show at the end of the URL in the address bar and hit Enter. (See example below.)
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/miamiuniversity/sets/72157635378466197/show
  5. Click SHARE in the top right corner.
  6. Copy embed code.

Create in Cascade:

  1. Add embed code to page or widget in the HTML view.

Finish Up:

  1. Click on Submit to save your work.
  2. Publish (or send the request to publish).

Flickr Slideshow Example 1 should be 400x300

Example 2 should be 400 x 600

SPIF Bank Example

    SPIF Item - Example 1

    SPIF means Special Interest Feature.

    This is a SPIF item (number 1) in a SPIF Bank. A SPIF bank can be made up of one or more SPIF item.

    The teaser text should be about 40 words.  This SPIF item can stand alone or link to another page.

    SPIF Item - Example 2

    This is a SPIF item (number 2) in a SPIF Bank.  The teaser text should be about 40 words.  This SPIF item can stand alone or link to another page.
  • text only - SPIF item 3

    SPIF Item - Example 3

    This image is embedded in the content.

    A SPIF item does not have to have a header or any text.
