Sharing News from Other Sites

  • Allow editors to browse through all news articles, from any site, that are published live in the news database.
  • Allow editors to then pull news articles into their own Cascade site(s) that were created in other sites without needing to duplicate articles.
  • Enable the UCM web team to add and remove categories to/from any news site in Cascade, in one place, without editing the configuration settings or code.

News administrators for each division can access the password protected (Miami Unique ID and Password) news sharing page for their own division. You cannot edit someone else’s news sharing page. Administrator privileges are not given to students.

To select articles for inclusion in your site

  1. Log in to your news admin page using your Miami unique ID and password*.
  2. Use the dropdown menus at the top of the page to filter the articles.

  3. On your page under each article name, you should see checkboxes with the categories that match the filters on your news articles. Check one or more boxes to add an article to those categories.
    • Please only check ONE box at a time.
    • An article with a BLUE background was created in your site.

  4. Then wait until you get a message that the article has been published successfully. Don’t navigate away from the page or check more boxes while the system is working. You will see “In Progress” and “Complete” messages.
  • Uncheck the box to remove the article from that category.
  • Some categories are global, meaning everyone has access to them and everyone can contribute articles to those categories.
    • Example: Diversity and Inclusion—these articles are pushed to the Institutional Diversity News page.
    • Example: STEAM—there is no listing page yet for this category but people can tag their articles with STEAM and when there is a news page created for it they will all show up there.
    • More global categories can be created we just need to decide as a group what the categories should be.
