Wellness Days at Miami

New for 2021! The spring semester brings a new concept for embracing wellness by dedicating days on the academic calendar to intentionally encourage our community to nourish their minds, bodies, and spirits. As an alternative to Spring Break, five wellness days have been designated for students. Staff will follow their normal work schedules for each of these days. Later in the spring semester, staff will be encouraged to explore various resources offered by Human Resources and its partners. Each of the 5 dedicated days showcases opportunities to explore the 8 dimensions of wellness; Social, Emotional, Physical, Spiritual, Environmental, Occupational, Intellectual, and Financial. The goal of this initiative is to learn more about campus wellness resources and to inspire and rejuvenate.

Intellectual Wellness

Values education and engages in lifelong learning. Pursues activities that increase knowledge, develop moral reasoning, foster critical thinking and expand worldviews. Appreciates the fine arts, and values intuition, empathy and understanding as forms of knowing.

Occupational Wellness

The ability to get personal fulfillment from our jobs or our chosen career fields while still maintaining balance in our lives. Our desire to contribute in our careers to make a positive impact on the organizations we work in and to society as a whole.

Physical Wellness

Optimal physical wellness requires eating well, exercising, avoiding harmful habits (such as smoking), getting enough sleep, recognizing the signs of disease, getting regular physical exams, and taking steps to prevent injury.

Social Wellness

Having a supportive social network, contributing to society, and valuing cultural diversity. Initiating better communication with others.

Spiritual Wellness
