The Miami University 2020 Plan is of special importance to the regional campuses and to the College of Professional Studies and Applied Sciences (CPSAS).  As Miami University’s newest division, CPSAS welcomes the opportunity to align, early on, with the larger goals of the University in a focused and measured way.

The regional campuses of Miami University have gone through a period of profound change in the past few years, including regionalization, more than doubling the number of bachelor’s degrees offered and the establishment of the new college. The 2020 Plan for the regional campuses and CPSAS provides focus on the larger picture and longer-term goals during this time of change.

To develop this plan, the regional 2020 task force was formed in September 2013 and given three charges:

  • Lead the regional campuses’ response to the University’s 2020 Plan
  • Identify the unique ways the regional campuses will respond to the 2020 Plan
  • Identify systematic processes to collect and report data that supports the 2020 Plan

Chaired by Associate Dean Cathy Bishop-Clark and working closely with CPSAS Dean Michael Pratt, the task force studied and summarized the responses submitted by regional department chairs and coordinators.  From this foundation, enhanced metrics were developed and incorporated into the University’s 2020 Plan.  They cover critically important objectives such as increasing graduation and retention rates, the development of new degrees, increasing the number of online offerings, expanding experiential learning opportunities for our students, and others.

Members of the task force then met with various faculty and staff groups on the regional campuses to discuss the new Regional Campuses/CPSAS 2020 Plan, answer questions and continue the 2020 conversation.  The responses gathered from those discussions were integrated into this February 2014 plan.
