Comment |
Percent time of appointment is related to the number of hours the employee works per week. For example, an employee working 20 hours per week is 50% time. If the position is grant funded or externally funded, add the phrase “Vacation must be taken prior to the end date of this appointment. Any vacation balance becomes zero at the end of appointment.” If submitting before increments are known enter “If approved, salary will be incremented.”

How to Calculate:
FTE:
# of hours working each week/40 hours per week = A
# of weeks they will work/52 weeks in a year = B
Take A x B = FTE
Example of FTE Calculation:
14.3 hours working each week/40 hours per week = .3575
16 weeks employee will work/52 weeks in a year = .3076
.3575 x .3076 = .11 FTE
Hours Per Pay:
# of hours working each week x # of weeks they will work = total number of hours worked over duration
Total number of hours worked over duration/number of pays = Hours per Pay
Example of Calculation:
14.3 hours working each week x 16 weeks employee will work = 228.8 total working hours
Employees effective dates are February through part of May, therefore number of pays is 4
228.8/4 = 57.2 hours per pay
