International Transfer

To apply for transfer admission as an international student, submit the following items online or send to the address below.

Do not send duplicate materials, as it will delay processing.

International Application or Common Application

You may apply by using either the Miami University International Application or the transfer Common Application.


$70 Application Fee (non-refundable)

When applying, students submit a non-refundable $70 application fee. The application provides fee waivers for qualified students.


Mid-Term Report/Recommendation

For students in their first university term, we encourage you to submit a mid-term report showing your current grades. If you have attended longer than one term, you may choose to supplement your application by having a university instructor submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf. The optional mid-term report and the letter of recommendation can be emailed to GoGlobal@MiamiOH.edu.


Academic Records*

Academic records include all secondary school studies, beginning with 9th grade through the most current available at time of application. Proof of secondary school graduation is required before enrolling at Miami. In addition, a transcript must be submitted for each college/university you have attended since secondary school graduation.

After submitting an application, students may upload copies of their academic records through their applicant status page.

All documents not originally issued in English must include an English translation.


Proof of English Language Proficiency*

Send TOEFL or IELTS test scores to Miami or provide alternative proof of English language proficiency.

After submitting an application, students may upload copies of their Engish Language Prociency test scores through their applicant status page.

The following items are required in order for Miami University to issue an I-20 visa document*


Copy of Passport or National Identification Card


International Student Financial Support Form with Financial Verification

Submit the International Student Financial Support Form through your Applicant Status Page. Your form must include documentation providing proof of financial support. The most common type of documentation submitted for financial verification is a copy of a current bank statement. Tax returns and letters of employment or income will not be accepted. Please allow two business days to process any uploaded material.

Additional Application Requirements

We do not conduct interviews as part of the general admission process.

College of Creative Arts

Students pursuing the following majors within the College of Creative Arts are required to submit a portfolio and/or schedule an audition/interview by the application deadline: Architecture, Art, Art Education, Communication Design, Interior Design, Music, Music Composition, Music Education, Music Performance, and Theatre For more information, please see the specific admission requirements for each major or contact the College of Creative Arts at +1-513-529-1517.

Farmer School of Business

To be admitted into the Farmer School of Business (FSB), a transfer student must have earned at least 30 graded credit hours that apply toward the Bachelor of Science in Business degree. Typically, transfer students have an overall GPA of 3.50 or higher in all graded credit hours earned and have completed MTH 151 and ECO 201 (or equivalent course credit including AP, post-secondary, or transfer credits).
