The primary purpose of the Goggin Ice Center is to provide the students, faculty, staff and community a space to engage in informal recreation providing programming geared towards all ages and all abilities. The Goggin offers a variety of recreational opportunities such as public skating, instruction in both skating and hockey skills, youth skating and hockey programs, travel hockey leagues, intramural and club level team play, varsity hockey and skating, and classes for educational credit.

Mission Statement

The Miami University Goggin Ice Center is an auxiliary facility dedicated to meeting the diverse recreational needs of its patrons. The primary goal of the Goggin is to provide an environment that promotes and enhances wellness in the lives of Miami students, members, and guests.


COVID-19 Patron and Participant Guidelines

Goal:  To inform all patrons of Goggin Ice Center guidelines and procedures to help achieve physical distance, safety, and a positive experience while in Goggin Ice Center


Guidelines - Ohio State Guidelines for contact and/or non-contact sports/during competition
  • Patrons must follow all Ohio State Guidelines for contact and/or non-contact sports.
  • Patrons must follow 6 ft physical distance guidelines at all times while off the ice.
  • All patrons should stay home if they have a fever, cough, not feeling well, or exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Face Covering must be worn at all times other than;
    • participants on the ice (masks to be worn at all times during public ice skating sessions)
    • hockey referees/officials
    • If you have special medical needs please contact the Miami Center for Disability Services at 513-529-8595 before arriving. You will not be allowed in Goggin without a face covering.
  • Participants must wear face covering until they are fully dressed and walking to their ice session. Coaches will wear face masks.
 Guidelines - Before entering Goggin Ice Center
  • Waivers must be submitted before entering Goggin Ice Center
    • Participants will be asked to complete a program-specific or assumption of risk waiver
 Guidelines - Entering Goggin Ice Center
  • All patrons must have temperature taken as they enter Goggin. 
    • Anyone over 100⁰F will be asked to not enter Goggin Ice Center.
  • Each Goggin program participant is permitted two adult guests. Minor siblings are also permitted and must remain with adult guardian at all times.
    • Accompanying guests must enter the building with the program participant.
    • Any participant 13 and younger is required to enter with a parent/guardian.
  • Parents/guardians are required to go directly to the concourse level/2 nd floor while the participants and coaches stay on the event level/1 st
    • For younger participants who need support to get ready, the parent/guardian can provide assistance, then go directly to the concourse level/2 nd
    • Rolling skate guards are permitted within Goggin while our COVID restrictions are in place.
  • Patrons may enter Goggin Ice Center no earlier than 20 minutes prior to the start of the scheduled event.
 Guidelines - Participate events 
  • Goggin Ice Center will not allow any loitering inside.  Patrons are required to exit the building no more than 10 minutes after the conclusion of the scheduled event.
    • Programs participating on the B-pad are asked to leave via the west exit located next to locker room 1 on the event level.
    • Programs participating on the A-pad are asked to leave via the southwest exit located by locker room 12 on the event level or the balcony on the west side of Goggin via the concourse level.
  • Participants must bring their own labeled water bottle and not share. We recommend all water bottles stay in the locker room during activity.
    • Drinking fountains will not be available.
Guidelines - Locker rooms
  • Locker rooms will be limited to 7-12 people based on square footage.  Spots inside the locker room will be blocked off and spots outside of the locker room will be available and labeled to coincide with group locker room assignment.
    • Hockey players are required to come fully dressed or with bottom gear on. Goalies will be allowed to put skates/pads/chest protector on, but are required to arrive with hockey pants on.
  • Locker rooms will be off-line for any team meeting.
  • Locker room bathrooms, including showers, are closed and inaccessible; restrooms not connected to locker rooms are available for use.
  • Participants’ equipment must be disinfected before they enter Goggin Ice Center and after they participate in activities.
Additional Information
  • Miami University is a cashless campus. Goggin will not accept any cash. Please bring appropriate methods of payment.
  • The Pro Shop will be limited or closed to patrons depending on the number of people in Goggin.
  • We have over 150,000 sq. ft. of usable space in Goggin.  Please use it to physical distance while you enjoy our facility.

**These guidelines were created to protect the health and safety of all players and patrons and were developed with guidance from, USA Hockey, US Figure Skating, State of Ohio guidelines, and the CDC recommendations ** 

Inclement Weather

Goggin Ice Center follows all Miami University weather related delays and closings. Check the main Miami University website for all delays and closings. Goggin programming will continue as scheduled if Miami is in session.
