What is the Miami Digital ID for Android?

Your Miami Digital ID on your Android device works anywhere you use your plastic card. After adding your Miami Digital ID to your device through the GET app, simply tap your Miami Digital ID at readers on and off campus for access to residence halls, dining locations, campus recreation facilities, libraries, retail locations and more!

HOW DO I ADD MY MIAMI DIGITAL ID TO MY ANDROID DEVICE?

  • Download and open the Get Mobile app and select Search All Institutions.
  • Select Miami University in the school list.
  • Log in using your Miami credentials, and then complete the DUO authentication.
  • Create a PIN.
  • Select "Add to Google Wallet".
  • Agree to the Terms and Conditions of use.
  • The ID will now be provisioned to your device. Do not delete the GET app. If you delete the app, the ID will be removed as well.

ACCESS MY DIGITAL ID

To access your campus ID after you add it to Google Wallet:

  • Open the Google Wallet app.
  • Tap on your picture in the upper right hand corner
  • Select your Miami Google Account
  • Tip: You can also find your campus ID in your device settings. Tap Settings then Google and then Settings for Google apps and then Google Wallet

WHAT DO I NEED?

You will need an Android device with the following:
  • An Android phone that runs Lollipop (5.1) or higher, with NFC turned on.
  • Download the GET Mobile app from the Play Store.
  • Download the latest version of the Google Wallet app from the Google Play Store. The Google Wallet will need to be enabled and setup.
  • Ensure that you have an approved photo on file. Social media profile-type photos do not meet the ID card guidelines and will not be accepted

You can use your Miami Digital ID anywhere that the Miami ID is accepted, including the following locations:

HOW DO I USE IT?

Your device does not need to be unlocked, but the screen should be “awake.” Ensure NFC is turned on. Android devices can vary in the placement of the NFC antennae. Tap the top of the phone to the reader. If this does not work, tap the back body of the phone to the reader. Some devices require the user to log in to the GET Mobile app once daily in order to utilize the ID.

Frequently Asked Questions

What devices are supported?

All Android phones that have NFC are supported. Android watches are not supported at this time. You cannot have the Miami ID on both an Android and an Apple device. 

How can I view my UniqueID?

To view your UniqueID, open and log into the Google Wallet. Tap on the card, scroll down to see the Campus ID. The Campus ID is the same as the Unique ID.

Does my device need to be awake to use the Miami Digital ID?

You do not need to unlock your device, but the screen will need to be lit and "awake" in order to use the ID, unless the "Require device unlock" has been enabled.

How can I view the Miami Digital ID on my Android device?

The Miami Digital ID for Android is viewable in the GET app.

Can I view my Meal Plan, declining dollars and MULaa balance on my Android phone?

Yes! Simply open the GET Mobile app and view your balances in the Accounts section.

I have added the Miami Digital ID to my Android device, but it is not working.

Please follow the troubleshooting steps

  1. Ensure you are presenting the digital ID properly at the reader, straight up and down typically works best.
  2. If you are presenting a digital ID and the reader is not reacting, open the GET Mobile app.
  3. After logging into GET Mobile, try to present the ID to the reader again. Some devices require the user to log in to the GET Mobile app once daily in order to utilize the ID.
  4. Ensure you have properly provisioned the digital ID. In the GET mobile app, you should see the status of your digital ID as "ID added to Google Wallet". Otherwise, you should see "Add to Google Wallet".

How do I get a new Miami Digital ID if I get a new device?

  1. Open the GET Mobile App on your smartphone
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Tap Unlink Mobile Wallet ID.
  4. Tap Unlink when prompted (This will unlink your Miami Digital ID from your old device).
  5. Close the app and reopen the app.
  6. In the right hand corner of the ID you will see an “Add to” Apple Wallet or Google Wallet symbol.
  7. Tap the symbol.
  8. Tap Accept.
  9. Tap Accept & Continue.
  10. You may be prompted to look at your ID in your Apple/Google wallet (this is not a necessary step).
  11. Close and reopen the GET App.
  12. Your Miami Digital ID is ready for use.

What happens if I lose my phone? If I find it afterward?

  1. Open the GET Mobile App on your smartphone
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Tap Unlink Mobile Wallet ID.
  4. Tap Unlink when prompted (This will unlink your Miami Digital ID from your old device).
  5. Close the app and reopen the app.
  6. In the right hand corner of the ID you will see an “Add to” Apple Wallet or Google Wallet symbol.
  7. Tap the symbol.
  8. Tap Accept.
  9. Tap Accept & Continue.
  10. You may be prompted to look at your ID in your Apple/Google wallet (this is not a necessary step).

Can I use my Miami Digital ID if my Android device has a dead battery?

No. You will need to ensure your phone is charged in order to utilize your Miami Digital ID.

Can I use the Miami Digital ID without cellular signal?

The Miami Digital ID can be used even if your phone does not have network connectivity as the Miami Digital ID is stored on your device.

How do I know if I’m eligible for the Miami Digital ID?

All students and employees are eligible for the Miami Digital ID. Affiliates, emeritus and retirees are not eligible for the Miami Digital ID.

Is a photo required for me to add the Miami Digital ID to my Android device?

Yes, you will need a photo on file before you can add your Miami Digital ID to your Android Phone.

Is my Miami Digital ID considered an Official University ID?

Yes, the Miami Digital ID and your Miami ID Card are both official forms of University identification.
