Can you dig it? Anthropology students visit Israel to practice archaeology techniques
For 4 weeks this summer, Megan Ashbrook, Sarah Kammer, Caroline Sausser, and Rachel Strohl got to experience first-hand what it is like to be an archaeologist. Miami sent the 3 undergraduate anthropology majors and one classics major to Akko, Israel, where they participated in the Tel Akko Archaeological Field School

IES hosts annual Willeke lecture series with Dr. Elizabeth Hoover
On Monday, February 7, Miami's Institute for the Environment and Sustainability (IES) hosted its 10th annual Dr. Gene and Carol Willeke Frontiers in Environmental Science Distinguished Lecture Series in the new Shideler Hall auditorium. This year's Willeke speaker was Elizabeth Hoover, assistant professor of American studies at Brown University

Miami is hosting its 3rd annual Careers Involving Quantitative Skills (CIQS, pronounced "kicks") event, a day designed to encourage female high school students to pursue a career in STEM or in other fields that require good quantitative skills

Shideler Hall to showcase exciting renovations and career opportunities with alumni workshops, keynote speakers, and ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct 10-13
Although the recently renovated Shideler Hall has been open for classes in the interdisciplinary geosciences since this past January, a special series of presentations and activities for 4 days this month will officially introduce its expanded and enhanced collaborative spaces for teaching and research to the general public
