Virtual Open House Scheduled in November

Are you or someone you know interested in gerontology? Scripps Gerontology Center and the Department of Sociology and Gerontology invite you to a virtual open house to learn more about Miami University graduate programs in gerontology!

As part of the open house, attendees will:
- Get an overview of our Master of Gerontological Studies and Ph.D. in Social Gerontology programs.
- Learn about the application process.
- Meet gerontology faculty members.
- Hear from current gerontology graduate students.
- Get answers to your questions about our gerontology graduate programs.
Attendees are also invited to stay after the open house to attend a Scripps Lunchtime Presentation from Noon-1 p.m. The full schedule of events is listed below:
10–10:30 a.m. Welcome and Overview of Gerontology Programs
10:30–11 a.m. Hear from Gerontology Graduate Students
11–11:30 a.m. Meet Gerontology Faculty Members
11:30–11:50 a.m. Question & Answer Session
11:50 a.m.–12 p.m. Wrap up
12–1 p.m. Virtual lunchtime presentation (optional) - Lunchtime Presentation: Evaluation of Dementia-Capable Community Efforts: Strategies and Lessons Learned in the COVID-19 Pandemic – with Research Scholar Dr. Jennifer Heston-Mullins & Senior Research Associate Abby Helsinger
1–5 p.m. Graduate Research Forum (optional, in-person/on-campus event). For those who would like to see the campus and department in person, a gerontology group will meet at the Upham Hall arch (100 Bishop Circle, Oxford, OH) at 1:30 p.m. to walk over to the Graduate Research Forum. This event showcases paper and poster presentations from graduate students across campus. Sessions run from 1–5 p.m. at Armstrong Student Center.
