Dr. James Bielo is an Associate Professor in Anthropology. He is a cultural and linguistic anthropologist, and his primary areas of interest are the anthropology of North America, religion, Christianity, power, materiality and the senses. Dr. Bielo is the author of five books, most recently Materializing the Bible: Scripture, Sensation, Place (Bloomsbury, 2021).  He received his PhD from Michigan State University in 2007.
