Faith Walker
Faith Walker (’21) has conducted multiple research projects during her 3.5 years at Miami, including 4 archaeological digs. Among these was her Undergraduate Summer Scholars (USS) grant to complete an independent research project during the summer of 2019. Her research examined community engagement with an archaeological site on Achill Island, Ireland, synthesizing methods from archaeological, cultural, and linguistic anthropology. She collaborated with local archeologists and community members to understand what interested the public and how to most effectively convey research about the site. This research resulted in an early-chapter children’s book synthesizing archaeological and historical research into a narrative about the site, which she is currently in the process of publishing.
