Geology Graduate Student of the Week

We're kicking off November by celebrating our Graduate Student of the Week! Congratulations to Nanci Reyes Guzmán! She was nominated by Wilnelly Ventura-Valentin. Miami University Graduate Student Association Miami University College of Arts and Science

Nanci is a 2nd year Ph.D. student in Miami University Geology and Environmental Earth Science. Her research area of interest is in volcanology (reconstruction of volcanic history, impact of volcanic eruptions on human settlements), petrology, geochemistry, and field geology.

Wilnelly spoke about Nanci's academic work, as well as some of the work that she has done to help new international students. "Nanci is a hard working student that published a paper her first year at Miami. She is actively trying to help new international students with the transition of moving out of their home country and making them feel welcomed."

Nanci's favorite thing about being a graduate student at Miami University: "My favorite thing is to have access to good quality research, and facilities to improve my career as a scientist. Also, I like to have the time to hangout with my friends around the beautiful campus and city of Oxford."
