Jessica Lemond

Name: Jessica Lemond
Graduation: 2015
Major: International Studies
Minor: Spanish
GRAMELAC Language: Korean
I have always been really interested in different cultures, but I wasn’t quite sure where I wanted to go with it. So I figured choosing International Studies as a major would open lots of doors for me in any direction I wanted. I added my Spanish minor after deciding to have my focus for my major be in Latin America. In addition to learning Spanish, I’m also taking classes in Italian and Korean.
The Korean department only has one professor, which has been nice because I have gotten to know him very well. Professor Ahn has been very helpful in satisfying my hunger for knowledge about Korean culture and language. However, only one professor in the department means I cannot achieve Korean proficiency past the 202 level. In order to learn more about the language and culture, this fall I will study at Yonsei University in Wonju, South Korea.
After graduation, I hope to do something with translation as I am learning Spanish, Korean and Italian. My other dreams are to teach English in a foreign country or teach a second language in the United States. In addition, I would like to travel the world on mission trips and be able to lead worship and communicate with people in different languages.
