In Winter 2022, twenty-five Miami students travelled to Germany to participate in a three-week program “Americans in Berlin”, co-taught by Venelin Ganev, Professor of Political Science, and Mila Ganeva, Professor of German. We discovered that the German capital is just as vibrant and inviting in January as it is usually in the summer. The numbers don’t say it all, but are impressive: nineteen days, nine seminars on site in Prenzlauer Berg, two daytrips (including one to Potsdam), ten guided tours with multiple historical site visits, some free testing, zero covid, lots of learning and fun, and massive exhaustion at the end. The program will be offered again in January 2024.
