Chaetomium fungi

Chaetomium is a genus of fungi in the Chaetomiaceae family. It is a dematiaceous mold normally found in soil, air, cellulose and plant debris. It is characterized by a strong dusty smell and also thrives in water damaged building materials.

Chaetomium is highly dangerous and can trigger infections in humans. According to the Dictionary of Fungi, there are about 95 species in the widespread genus.
