Daniele Piere-BravoBecause she was born in Santiago, Chile, Daniela Pierre-Bravo wasn’t eligible for any government scholarships or loans to pay for college. Although she had moved to Ohio during her teenage years, she wasn’t a United States citizen.

So, she paid every dollar of Miami’s full-priced tuition. By herself.

Pierre-Bravo was at an obvious disadvantage due to her citizenship status, but she recognized the importance of a college education. She worked as a Mary Kay consultant, applied for outside scholarships and held many jobs on the side. She made it possible for herself to graduate in three and a half years, completely debt-free.

Today, Pierre-Bravo focuses a large part of her career around empowering other young women to succeed. She is a booking producer for NBC Universal’s, “Morning Joe,” and a contributing writer and millennial ambassador for “Morning Joe host,” Mika Brzezinski’s “Know Your Value” platform.

During her time in Oxford, Pierre-Bravo pursued a major in international relations and a minor in marketing. She was extremely involved on campus, which she said helped her to foster a sense of excellence. She was involved as a scholar leader and a member of Miami’s Mock Trial team and Pi Sigma Epsilon business fraternity.

She found that her fellow students at Miami were “opportunity-obsessed,” and it’s that very obsession that drove her to land her career with NBC Universal.

During the summer before her senior year, she moved to New York City and worked at two unpaid internships with Sean Combs’ (P.Diddy) Bad Boy Entertainment enterprises and Viacom’s MTV Networks. She walked dogs, babysat and promoted for a bar and nightclubs to afford the unpaid experience.

She graduated in the fall of 2012 and received a work permit through President Obama’s DREAM Act, which allows some individuals who were brought to the United States illegally to obtain a work permit in the United States.

After graduation, she was offered a job with NBC’s Page program, a 12-month early career development experience in media. During this experience, she was assigned to work on the show “Morning Joe,” which eventually gave her a full-time offer. She now works as a booking producer for the show.

She works closely with Mika Brzezinski, a host of the show, and is co-authoring a book, “The Millennial Challenge,” with the host. The book focuses on women navigating the workforce and will be released in April 2019.

In the coming years, Pierre-Bravo plans to platform for young women in underrepresented communities who don’t have access to jobs. As a booking producer, she aims to bring in new voices to “Morning Joe” and make the guests more diverse.
