Ron Scott leaves a lasting impact on MJF, Miami
Ron Scott, associate professor of Media & Culture and vice president of Institutional Diversity will retire at the end of 2020. He has had a long, substantial, and impactful career at Miami University. Scott joined Miami in 1988 as an assistant professor in mass communication & pre-major advisor at the university. As an advocate for inclusion, his impact on the University grew, while he served as the advisor for Women in Communication.

Miami and Talawanda High School alum Hannah Abigail Clarke celebrates indie best-selling novel, "The Scapegracers"
Hannah Abigail Clarke, a '19 Miami graduate, recently released the fantasy novel The Scapegracers, and was invited to speak to a group of eager writers and readers about the process. In a special online event hosted by The Western Center and the Department of English's creative writing program, Clarke read from their book and answered audience questions.

Miami's Havighurst Center brings art from Post-Soviet Russia to the surface through Creative Horizons
Miami's Havighurst Center for Russian & Post-Soviet Studies has helped to create a new initiative called Creative Horizons, a digital project that captures the significance of art in the post-Soviet era. Its mission is to illuminate how Russian artists combine art and history to evoke creativity through hardship and to create meaning through resilience.

The year 2020, to put it mildly, has been shaping up to be a tumultuous one: a global and deadly pandemic, a major economic recession, civil and racial tensions, and an acrimonious presidential election between two very different candidates. This latter issue in particular, "Election 2020," will be discussed on October 28 by special guests Donna Brazile and Joseph Grogan for the fall 2020 Janus Forum.
