Clinical And Teaching Interests

I am the Director of the Miami University Psychology Clinic, which is the departmental training clinic that provides intervention and assessment services to children, adolescents, and adults in the community.  I often teach and supervise Clinical Psychology graduate students in their first practicum experience in the Psychology Clinic. I tend to use a cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal process, and multicultural/feminist approach when working with clients and when supervising students.   My particular clinical and research interests include identity development, the experiences of marginalized populations, relationship concerns, anxiety, depression, and mindfulness.

My approach to teaching is to provide a holistic and multicultural view of the field of psychology, with special consideration for how historical context, social constructionism, and multicultural influences have culminated into the field that it is today. In my classes, I encourage critical thinking, curiosity, and collaboration and try to provide ample opportunities for students to purposefully engage with course content.
