Integrating Spanish Language, Afro-Peruvian Culture and Service

Workshop Description:  This faculty-led workshop will provide students with the opportunity for students to complete two 300-level electives for their Spanish major or minor during Winter Term, as well as offer a rare opportunity for cultural immersion and examination of the black diaspora in the unique region of Ica, Perú.  This program will not only offer the opportunity to improve language proficiency and skills, but also the development of professional skills through community-based work.  Fianlly, students will benefit from collaboration with the Afro-Peruvian Association Negra Margarita, as well as the local government of Nasca, Perú.

* Independent study credit is available for those who have already taken SPN 331.

Price: $2020 + tuition for 6 credits
(includes housing, ground transportation, and most meals)
