ETBD Hiring

The Department of Emerging Technology in Business + Design, a part of the College of Creative Arts at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio invites applicants for three open Assistant Professor positions in the areas of (1) 3D & Virtual Reality (2) UX Research and (3) Interaction Design. Applications will be reviewed until each position is filled.

Given the interdisciplinary nature of ETBD at Miami University, applicants are welcome from a variety of backgrounds.

  • Assistant Professor, area of 3D & Virtual Reality, requires Ph.D in computer science, psychology, or related discipline by date of appointment; teaching, research, or industry experience in the area of virtual reality research and development. Consideration may be given to candidates with: an accomplished research and teaching record, including a record of significant peer-evaluated scholarship and successful grant writing; experience mentoring students individually on games, virtual reality simulations, and undergraduate/graduate thesis work in virtual reality, games design, development, and studies; experience administering a virtual reality laboratory and overseeing staff and student assistants; working knowledge of both CAVE and HMD-based virtual reality systems; experience with multiple game engine and motion tracking technologies; experience and/or keen interest in online teaching.
  • Assistant Professor, area of UX Research, requires Ph.D digital marketing, Informatics, human-computer interaction, or related discipline by date of appointment; teaching, or research, or industry experience in Human-Computer Interaction research, Digital Marketing or User Experience. Consideration may be given to candidates with: an accomplished research and teaching record; experience mentoring students on undergraduate/graduate research. 
  • Assistant Professor, area of Interaction Design requires MFA in design-related field or Ph.D in information/data visualization, or web/mobile design/development or related discipline by date of appointment; teaching, or creative achievement, or industry experience in the area of interactive media design and development. Consideration may be given to candidates with: an accomplished research and teaching record, including a record of significant peer-evaluated scholarship and successful grant writing; experience working in the area of information/data visualization and web/mobile interface design and development; experience and/or keen interest in online teaching.
