Steven Pride, longstanding second trumpet with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, joined the CSO in 1980. Since then, he can be heard on over 140 recordings with maestros Michael Gielen, Jesus Lopez-Cobos, Paavo Järvi, and with the CPO under Erich Kunzel. He has also often performed as soloist with both the CSO and Pops in repertoire as varied as Vivaldi’s Concerto for Two Trumpets to Bugler’s Holiday with Al Hirt. Pride is a native of Maryville, Missouri, where he studied with Ward Rounds, then faculty member at Northwest Missouri State University. He is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where he studied with Eugene Blee, and later studied extensively with Arnold Jacobs of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to his musical duties with the CSO, Steven Pride is a founding member of the Cincinnati Symphony Brass Quintet, Concert Nova Brass Quintet, and is a frequent recitalist with other various brass chamber groups comprised of CSO brass members.
