Miami University Satellite Choir Program

The award winning Cincinnati Youth Choir (CYC) programs are non-competitive while focusing on a high level of artistry, arts education, building community and self-esteem. The Miami University Satellite Program has two 8-10-week sessions annually (Fall: Oct – Dec, Spring: March – May), which allow students (grades 3 – 6) from Oxford, Butler/Warren Counties in Ohio to Fayette, Wayne, & Franklin Counties in Indiana, to rehearse locally, and come together for a concert with all CYC ensembles at the end of each session.

The Satellite Choir tuition is $160 per singer, which includes a red polo uniform shirt, and an audio download of portions of the CYC concert. Tuition is due prior to the first rehearsal and can be paid using our online payment system or via check made payable to CYC and mailed to our mailing address: CYC, College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH 45221-0236. Limited need-based tuition-assistance is available online.

About the Cincinnati Youth Choir

The Cincinnati Youth Choir is an educationally based choral ensemble program. Participants learn healthy vocal technique, sight-reading, music history and music theory while experiencing performance excellence using the philosophies and techniques of Carl Orff, Zoltan Kodaly, Jacques Dalcroze and Jerome Brunner.

The learning environment is creative, explorative and fun. The children form lasting relationships with children outside of their community and develop a lifelong appreciation of music.

CYC members have toured Italy, Japan, China, Scandinavia, England, Ireland, Wales, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Canada, and the United States.

Founded in 1993, as the Cincinnati Children’s Choir, the organization updated its name to the Cincinnati Youth Choir in 2018 to better represent the age range of the member base.
